CERAMIC FILTER AND USE METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a ceramic filter prevented from the crack caused by the local combustion of PM accumulated in the filter and having high reliability enabling long-term use.

SOLUTION: The ceramic filter for cleaning an exhaust gas is used while loading the exhaust gas inflow surface and exhaust gas outflow surface of the ceramic filter with compression stress in the joining direction of both surfaces. Gas permeable holding members are respectively arranged to the exhaust gas inflow surface and exhaust gas outflow surface of the ceramic filter and fixed by a joining member to load the gas inflow and outflow surfaces with compression stress in the joining direction of both surfaces.
