PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the precision of the fitting position of a position detecting part in the rotating direction of a reel, to reduce costs, to surely detect the position of the rotating direction of the reel, to avoid increase of dimensions, cost increase and reduction in the rigidity of a fixing plate. SOLUTION: The reel unit is provided with: a reel 21 which displays a plurality of kinds of patterns on a peripheral surface; a motor 22 for rotate-driving the reed 21; a back light part 30 arranged on the side of the inner periphery of the reel 21 for illuminating the patterns on the reel 21 from its back; a reference piece 26a to be rotated with the reel 21; and a reference piece detection part 40 for detecting the passage of the reference piece 26a in rotation of the reel 21 for detecting a reference position in the rotating direction of the reel 21. The reference piece 26a is arranged adjacently to the center of rotation rather than the midpoint of the rotation center and the outer end of the reel 21 in the radial direction of the reel 21, and the reference piece detection part 40 is fixed to a back light part 30.
