<p>1279752 Belt or chain tensioning devices AUTOMOBILES CITROEN SA 23 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 45361/70 Heading F2Q A belt-tensioning roller comprises a non- rotary hub 2 on which is rotatably mounted a ring 20 by means of rollers 19, the hub 2 being urged in a direction to tension a belt 1 by a helical spring 4 interposed between the hub 2 and a fixed rod 3, and clamping means 5 being provided to clamp the hub 2 in its adjusted position. The clamping means 5 comprise a nut 13 which is threaded on a threaded portion 12 of rod 3 and bears against a washer 10 located in a housing in the hub 2. On release of the nut 13, the roller is moved by spring 4 to a position in which the belt tension is correct, and the nut 13 is then tightened. Similar tensioning rollers may be used to tension chains or cables.</p> |
