PURPOSE: An auxiliary device for starting a vehicle on a slope is provided to produce and use a gradient sensor simply for detecting traveling states of the vehicle on the slope and to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward in starting the vehicle again on the slope. CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary device for starting a vehicle on a slope is composed of an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,10) for setting a predetermined logic to decide that the vehicle starts again on the slope through an input signal and outputting a control signal to the decided signal; an amplifier(60) for applying and amplifying the control signal output from the ECU; a time controller(70) for applying the signal output from the amplifier and delaying the output signal for a set time; and a braking hydraulic pressure regulating valve(80) for applying the signal of the time controller and automatically delaying the release time of braking hydraulic pressure acting on a wheel cylinder. A gradient sensor(20) detects the gradient of the vehicle by a contact position of a roller and a rotary member contacted to the cylindrical inner peripheral surface and freely rotated by the center of gravity.
