The present invention relates to novel crystalline forms of (S)-N- (1-Carboxy-2­methyl-prop-1-yl) -N-pentanoyl-N- [2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)- biphenyl-4-yl methyl amine (Valsartan) and to processes for their preparation. Valsartan, chemically described as (S)-N- (1-Carboxy-2-methyl-prop-1-yl) -N-pentanoyl-N- [2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)- biphenyl-4-yl methyl amine, is represented by the following structural formula (I).
