PURPOSE: A channel search system using a remote control and a method of controlling the channel search system are provided to rapidly search a plurality of channels for a desired channel. CONSTITUTION: A channel search system using a remote control includes a radio receiver(22) and a radio signal processor(28). The radio receiver receives a channel increase/decrease signal transmitted from the remote control. The radio signal processor detects the period of input time of the channel increase/decrease signal inputted through the radio receiver, and applies a control signal to a system device(30) to directly move from the current channel to a channel increased/decreased by a predetermined channel width in the case that the detected period of input time of the channel increase/decrease signal exceeds a predetermined reference time.
