PREPARATION METHOD OF CYCLOHEXANECARBOXYLIC ACID BY HYDROGENATION OF BENZOIC ACID IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION AND CYCLOHEXANECARBOXYLIC ACID PREPARED BY THE METHOD

PURPOSE: A method for preparing cyclohexanecarboxylic acid by hydrogenation of benzoic acid in aqueous solution and cyclohexanecarboxylic acid prepared by the method are provided, to improve the yield and to suppress the generation of by-product by performing the reaction not in an organic solution but in aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding a basic aqueous solution to benzoic acid in the ratio of 1-5 mole to prepare an aqueous benzoate salt; hydrogenating the benzoate salt in an aqueous solution to prepare a cyclohexanecarboxylate salt; and adding an acid aqueous solution to the cyclohexanecarboxylate salt to convert the salt into cyclohexanecarboxylic acid. Preferably the basic aqueous solution comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of NaOH, KOH, LiOH, KOH, liquid ammonia, Na2CO3 and K2CO3; and the hydrogenation is performed in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal selected from Pd, Pt or Ru supported in a carrier at a temperature of 100-200 deg.C and a hydrogen pressure of 10-100 atom.
