PURPOSE: A device for controlling a decided threshold value of a burst mode optical receiver is provided to generate a reset signal, and to apply the generated reset signal to a decided threshold value controller, thereby reducing component size without configuring an additional circuit. CONSTITUTION: A preamplifier(101) comprises as follows. A TIA(Trans-Impedance Amplifier)(4) determines a gain and a bandwidth. A bottom level detector(5) detects a bottom level of an output of the TIA(4). An AGC(Automatic Gain Control) unit(6) inputs the detected bottom level, generates an AGC signal, and automatically controls a gain of the signal. A power level detector(7) detects size of an output signal of the TIA(4). The TIA(4) converts a current signal outputted from an optical detector(110) into a voltage signal, and supplies the voltage signal to the bottom level detector(7).
