SCREENING METHOD FOR IMMUNOMODULATING OLIGOSACCHARIDES EXTRACTED FROM NATURAL MATERIAL USING PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH

PURPOSE: A screening method for immunomodulating oligosaccharides extracted from natural material using programmed cell death is provided, thereby easily screening the immunomodulating oligosaccharides. CONSTITUTION: A method for extracting oligosaccharides from natural material comprises the steps of: washing the natural material, mixing with water, and heating the mixture at 120 deg. C under high pressure for 3 hours to produce a crude polysaccharide extract; concentrating the crude polysaccharide extract; and subjecting the concentrated polysaccharide extract to gel filtration chromatography to obtain an oligosaccharide fraction around molecular weight of 2,000 dalton, wherein the natural material include Artemisiae iwayomogi, Artemisiae vulgaris, Eclipta prostrata, Duchesnea chrysantha, Hordeum vulgare, Zingiber officinale, and Laminaria japonica. A screening method for immunomodulating oligosaccharides extracted from natural material using programmed cell death comprises the steps of: injecting 2mg/ml of the oligosaccharide fraction extracted from natural material into a spleen cell of a mouse; culturing the spleen cell for 4 hours; and analysing the induction of programmed cell death through DNA fragmentation assay.
