PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a theft prevention device body from being detached from a commodity without sounding an alarm buzzer by inserting a thin metal plate and the like between the theft prevention device body and the commodity. SOLUTION: This theft prevention device is provided with the theft prevention device body 1 and a wire 2 lead out from the theft prevention device body 1 for being attached to an external structure. The theft prevention device body 1 is provided with an engagement surface 3 for attaching the commodity, a projection part 5 projected from the engagement surface 3, a plunger 11 projecting from the projection part 5, a detecting switch 10 turned on off by interlocked with the plunger 11, and the alarm buzzer 40 interlocked with the detecting switch 10. When the commodity is attached to the engagement surface 3 of the theft prevention device body 1 with the projection part 5 fitted in a recess part of the commodity, the plunger 11 is pushed in the theft prevention device body 1, the detecting switch 10 is turned on, and the alarm buzzer 40 is operated.
