A tray moving apparatus (150) for constructing part of a reconfigurable activity surface, the apparatus (150) comprising a set of guide rails (160) and at least one tray (158) providing a first part of the activity surface which is movable on the rails (160), wherein the apparatus (150) is arranged to guide movement of the at least one tray (158) from a remote position (162) not engaging a second part of the activity surface to a local position (164) for accurately engaging the second part of the activity surface, the apparatus (150) further comprising means provided at least in part at the local position (164) for moving the at least one tray (158) laterally with respect to the direction of travel of the tray (158) on the rails (160) in order to effect engagement alignment of the tray (158) with an edge of the second part of the activity surface.
