FEATURE EXTRACTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feature extracting method for automatically and accurately extracting the feature of samples even if the samples are an unknown one.

SOLUTION: Inspection light is applied from an inspection light-generating apparatus 30 to the sample of paper sheets being retained by a sample holder 23 in a body section 2 for imaging the sample by an imaging apparatus 50. Images that are imaged at a plurality of different wavelength regions are acquired each, and an arithmetic unit 3 performs an operation to the images by a specific rule for extracting features. An image whose feature appeared clearly is stored in a representative data storage section 88 as a representative image. The difference value between images that are arranged in the order of wavelength is set to the index of feature extraction at an image analysis section 87. Additionally, either of appropriately set prediction feature images and an individual imaged image are related each other as the same kind, a process for correcting the prediction feature image by the relationship with the individual imaged image for correcting the prediction feature image, and the features are made clear and classified.
