<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane light source for a liquid crystal display panel inspection apparatus having uniform radiation illumination. <P>SOLUTION: The plane light source for the liquid crystal display panel inspection apparatus illuminates a transmission type liquid crystal display panel with light from a panel rear surface, and inspects whether images are appropriate or not based on the intensity of the transmission light of each pixel. The plane light source comprises: a plurality of rod-like discharge lamps for radiation light; a transmission plate for transmitting the light; a box body for accommodating the transmission plate at one side surface for accommodating the rod-like discharge lamp; and an exhaust means for exhausting air inside the box body. Each of the rod-like discharge lamps is arranged opposite to the surface of the transmission plate, and a ventilation hole is provided on the transmission plate so that it is along each tube axis of each rod-like discharge lamp. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
