PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative ion generator to efficiently generate negative ions. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a discharge electrode needle (21) to which a negative DC voltage is applied, and a dielectric electrode (22) to which a positive DC voltage is applied, and problems are solved because the dielectric electrode (22) is arranged at the side face position more backward than the tip of the discharge electrode needle (21). By so doing, negative ions are emitted abundantly covering a wide range without forming harmful substances such as ozone, nitrogen oxides and positive ions or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
