PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems relating to a lift volume variable type valve system for lifting a suction valve or an exhaust valve. SOLUTION: This valve system for lifting the suction valve or the exhaust valve of the internal combustion engine comprises a lift volume changing mechanism having a lift volume changing means 5 for changing the lift volume when the suction valve or the exhaust valve is lifted, and actuating means 1, 2, 7 for actuating the lift volume changing means.
