A pharmaceutical dosage form comprising a layer of material bearing a microrelief that conveys information, said material being thermo-formable and stable, wherein said microrelief conveys the information in the form of a holographic image or effect. Also covered are methods and apparatus for producing said pharmaceutical dosage form and for creating the diffraction grating or holograph on its surface.
