<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable host equipment to easily perform initialization without having a control program nor parameters for the initialization. <P>SOLUTION: A memory card 1 is a removable data storage device which is freely loaded in and unloaded from the host equipment 2. The memory card 1 has a nonvolatile semiconductor memory in which recorded data are erased at a time in block units of specified data block, a system information storage part in which internal information of the device is recorded, and a control part which controls the semiconductor memory according to commands supplied from the host equipment 2. The memory card 1 is able to receive a command for initialization. The memory card 1, when receiving the initialization command from the host equipment 2, logically formats the recording area on the semiconductor memory according to parameters stored in the system information storage part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
