PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of efficiently forming a final image having excellent color reproducibility by restraining the deterioration of image quality caused by a toner reverse transfer phenomenon in a plurality of transfer stages. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus consisting of a plurality of image forming units including an image carrier and an electrifying roller electrifying the surface of the image carrier in contact with it, the electrifying roller includes a foamed body layer consisting of a foamed body, and the foaming rate or the hole rate of the foamed body layer are made different between the respective electrifying rollers in the plurality of the image forming units.
