PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic silencer or muting system in which a sound output means of an acoustic device enters into a silent state or a mute state during a phone call or communication. SOLUTION: An incoming signal or an incoming tone is recognized, the state of a hook switch of a telephone set for confirming the lifting/setting of the receiver is further recognized, and the sound of the acoustic device is turned off or turned down on the basis of the results.
