PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a pixel signal in an imaging area made into multiple pixels at a high frame rate while suppressing the horizontal driving frequency of horizontal transfer registers. SOLUTION: The signal electric charges of each line (pixel line) in the imaging area made into multiple pixels are sorted to a plurality of the horizontal transfer registers and read, and the respective horizontal transfer registers are driven by a common gate driving pulse to simultaneously transfer a plurality of different lines of the signal charges. Between horizontal transfer registers 111A and 111B parallel to each other, an inter-register transfer gate 113 is provided to read the signal electric charges of adjacent lines of the imaging area 110 to the two registers 111A and 111B by driving of this inter register transfer gate 113.
