PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a float type steam trap capable of quickly discharging a large amount of low temperature air and discharging low temperature condensed water below a valve hole at a downtime. SOLUTION: An inlet 5, a valve chest 6 and an outlet 7 are formed by a casing constituted of an inlet side member 1 and a outlet side member 2. The valve hole 8 and an orifice 9 are formed on the outlet side member 2. The lower part of the valve chest 6 is communicated with the lower outlet 7 via the valve hole 8, and the lower end of the valve chest 6 is communicated with the lower outlet 7 via the orifice 9. A hollow spherical float 11 that opens/closes the valve hole 8 is arranged inside the valve chest 6 in a free state. A bimetallic strip 13 as a temperature responsive member is arranged inside the valve chest 6. The bimetallic strip 13 has a normally open communication hole 15 with a smaller opening area than the orifice. The bimetallic strip 13 does not interfere with the float 11 but closes the orifice 9 for communicating the valve chest 6 and the orifice 9 via the communication hole 15 at a high temperature while it opens the orifice 9 at a low temperature and lifts the float 11 for opening the valve hole 8.
