<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, especially an MVA (multidomain vertical alignment) mode liquid crystal display device wherein an image sticking is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device manufactured through a stage for injecting a liquid crystal composition containing a polymerizable monomer between two substrates and polymerizing the monomer while voltage is applied between transparent substrates opposed to each other of the substrates, the polymerizable monomer has one or more ring structures or ring-condensed structures and two functional groups directly bonded to the ring structures or the ring-condensed structures. Preferably, the monomer is represented by the general formula P<SP>1</SP>-A<SP>1</SP>-(Z<SP>1</SP>-A<SP>2</SP>)<SB>n</SB>-P<SP>2</SP>(wherein P<SP>1</SP>and P<SP>2</SP>independently denote an acrylate, a methacrylate, a vinyl, a vinyloxy or an epoxy group, A<SP>1</SP>and A<SP>2</SP>independently denote a 1,4-phenylene or a naphthalene-2,6 diyl group, Z<SP>1</SP>denotes a -COO- or a -OCO- group or a single bond and n denotes 0, 1 or 2). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
