PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the spring constant of a damping device corresponding to the change of the vibration characteristic of a damping object even after the damping device is installed. SOLUTION: This magnetic spring damping device has a fixed part magnet row 2 fixed to the damping object 1 and arranged in the specific direction, a movable mass 3 mounted relatively operatably in the specific direction to the damping object, and a movable part magnet row 4 fixed to the movable mass and arranged in the specific direction opposite to the fixed part magnet row through a clearance. A magnetic restoring force acts in the specific direction when the movable part magnet row and the fixed part magnet row are relatively moved in specific directions while keeping the constant clearance 9. At least a part of magnetic poles forming the fixed part magnet row and the movable part magnet row is composed of an electromagnet 14, and the spring constant representing the characteristic of magnetic restoring force is controlled by controlling an electric current supplied to the electromagnet.
