PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating a metal wire for holding the shape of a clothing, preventing the end part coated layer from deformation, etc., capable of securing sufficient strength and productivity and further without causing an environmental problem on burning treatment, and a coating structure. SOLUTION: This method for coating a metal wire for holding the shape of a clothing comprises (S101) a whole-heating process of heating the whole metal wire, (S102) a whole-coating process of melting and attaching a powdery resin consisting mainly of a powdery thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic resin on the whole surface area of the metal wire heated as a whole, (S103) an end part-heating process of heating the end parts of the wire, (S104) an end part-coating process of melting and attaching a powdery resin comprising a powdery thermoplastic resin, a powdery thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin on the heated end parts, (S106) a finish heating process of heating the whole wire completed with the whole-coating process and end part-coating process and (S107) a rapidly cooling process for rapidly cooling the wire completed with the finish heating process from a prescribed temperature.
