PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a bill exchanging device. SOLUTION: A bill 60 which is inserted to a slot 11a of a ball dispenser 11 and judged as a good bill is received at a receiving part 12. After the bill is temporary kept at a temporary reserve part 13, the bill is collected by a collection unit 14 driven by a conveyance belt 15, and then released at a direction change part 20. The bill 60 which is released at the direction change part 20 by the collection unit 14 is conveyed to the longitudinal direction, then turned and conveyed to the lateral direction, and finally stored in a receiving/paying machine 40. If the bill 60 cannot be stored in the receiving/paying machine 40, the bill is stored in a sub-storage unit provided in the direction change part 20. Since the substorage unit is provided in the direction change part 20 of the bill exchanging device 10, the height of the device can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
