PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance efficiency in transferring toner from a latent image carrier to a transfer body, and also, to reduce image-flowing and a missing of an image, as for an image forming apparatus using liquid developer. SOLUTION: As for the image forming apparatus provided with a latent image forming means for forming an electrostatic latent image on the latent image carrier, a means for supplying the liquid developer to the electrostatic latent image and visualizing the image and a means for offset-transferring the visible image on the latent image carrier to the transfer body by pressure, the storage elastic modulus of the toner in the liquid developer at a transfer temperature is controlled to be 10<SP>3</SP>to 10<SP>6</SP>Pa, and the storage elastic modulus of a backup roller arranged behind the transfer body is controlled to be≥10<SP>4</SP>Pa.
