PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming method which causes only a small variation of a white background and a small deterioration of dot quality in adjustment of dot area and stably gives the color tone of black dots even in continuous processing when a dot color image is obtained using a silver halide photographic sensitive material. SOLUTION: In the color image forming method in which, when a silver halide photographic sensitive material is subjected to scanning exposure on the basis of dot image information, the material is imagewise exposed using an exposure system with a standard light exposure regulating device for regulating dot area ratio and then color-developed to form a color image comprising a dot image, a hydrophilic colloidal layer comprising 2.0 to 8.0 g/m<SP>2</SP>binder is present between an emulsion layer whose spectral sensitivity is at the longest wavelength among silver halide emulsion layers and a reflective support, and a specified yellow coupler is contained in a yellow image forming layer.
