PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic detection element which can simultaneously achieve improvement of reproduction sensitivityηand a reproduction output by particularly improving a film constitution of a free magnetic layer in the CPP type magnetism detection element. SOLUTION: The free magnetic layer 26 is made into a laminate ferri- structure. By this, a physical film thickness of the free magnetic layer 26 is made to be thicker and the reproduction output can be improved, by improving a resistance change amountΔR×an area A. At the same time, since the magnetic film thickness is made to be smaller by making the free magnetic layer to be the laminate ferri-structure, a diamagnetic field from the free magnetic layer 26 becomes smaller and the bias of appropriate size can be applied stably and continuously to a first free magnetic layer 30 from a second antiferromagnetic layer 33, and as a result, the magnetism detection element of proper reproduction sensitivityηcan be manufactured.
