<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide apparatus and methods for fast cyclic redundancy check calculations in data processors. <P>SOLUTION: A data processor 26 includes a memory 28, a direct memory access controller 36 operatively coupled to the memory 28 and a cyclic redundancy check circuit 38 operatively coupled to the controller 36, which is configured to transfer data from the memory 28 to the circuit 38. The circuit 38 is configured to calculate at least one check value for the data. The methods comprise a step for transferring a data stream from the memory 28 to the circuit 38 by using the controller 36 and a step for calculating a cyclic redundancy check value for the data stream by the circuit 38. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
