<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the dissolved oxygen concentration in a liquid metal by using a solid electrolyte having oxygen penetrability, and to suppress corrosion in the liquid metal having high corrosiveness to a structural material. <P>SOLUTION: The solid electrolyte having oxygen ion conductivity is used as a bulkhead, and one side is dipped in the liquid metal 3, and the other side is brought into contact with a standard material 4 for oxygen concentration control comprising a metal and its oxide having an equilibrium oxygen partial pressure equivalent to the oxygen concentration to be controlled. The liquid metal 3 and the standard material 4 for oxygen concentration control are short circuited by an external circuit 6, to thereby control the dissolved oxygen concentration in the liquid metal 3 by oxygen penetration generated by utilizing the oxygen concentration difference between the liquid metal 3 and the standard material 4 for oxygen concentration control. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
