PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure excellent development stability when a printing plate formed with a positive photosensitive layer for an IF laser is continuously processed by using an alkaline developer. SOLUTION: When a power source switch is turned on, the automatic developing device replenishes the alkaline replenishing solution for the stop time of the replenishing solution meeting the stop time and thereafter replenishes the alkaline replenishing solution for the working time at every lapse of the prescribed time while measuring the working time. Simultaneously therewith, the automatic developing device reads exposure information from a plate setter at every time when a PS plate is detected by a plate detecting sensor, calculates and integrates the processing area of the PS plate based on the exposure information (steps 300 to 304), replenishes the alkaline replenishing solution in accordance with the integrated value of the processing area (steps 306 to 310), and replenishes an aqueous dissolution restrainer (steps 312 to 316).
