PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader by which a necessary reading condition is set by previously detecting the size of an original before feeding the original to a reading part at the time of reading mixed originals by feeding one by one. SOLUTION: The image reader is provided with a discriminating means to discriminate the original size by information from an original movement detecting means by arranging the original movement detecting means before a separating roller and a controller to set a prescribed reading condition by an obtained original size.
