PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate reuse of recovered slag. SOLUTION: In this burner type melting furnace, ash supplied from an ash storage tank 1 is melted in a combustion chamber 4 by combustion, and molten slag is heated by flowing in a molten metal reservoir 11 of a bottom part of a melting furnace body 12. An ash processing area reaching the melting furnace body 12 from the ash storage tank 1 is partitioned into a main ash processing area 19a and a flying ash processing area 19b by an intermediate partition 18 so that the molten slag is reserved in a main ash molten slag reserving part 11a and a flying ash molten slag reserving part 11b. The melting furnace body 12 is provided with a main ash slag outlet port 10a and a flying ash slag outlet port 10b. Main ash 5a and flying ash 5b are separately processed by the main ash processing area 19a and the flying ash processing area 19b, and main ash slag 6A and flying ash slag 6B are separately recovered.
