摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability and transmission efficiency in a toroidal continu ously variable transmission. SOLUTION: A plurality of rollers 12, 12 are held between driving-side and driven-side cam faces 13, 14 as uneven faces in the circumferential direction. The torque of an input shaft 1 is transmitted to an input-side disc 2 by pressing the driving-side and driven-side both cam faces 13, 14 and rotating faces 20, 20 of the rollers 12, 12 to each other. Then the input-side disc 2 is rotated and driven while being pressed to an output-side disc 4. A surface layer for reducing friction is formed on at least one of the driving-side and driven-side cam faces 13, 14 and the rotating faces 20, 20. According to this configuration, hysteresis is reduced, and the difference between actually generated thrust and a theory value, is reduced to achieve the durability and the improved transmission efficiency.
