The insert includes an episclerical bridge in the form of an arch in a single piece with two feet (72,73) connected by a mid part (71). Each foot has an end surface adapted to be placed so that it rests on the sclera. The mid part is adapted to receive at least one loop of a surgical suture (8) that goes into the sclera, the suture provoking expansion of the sclera under the arch of the insert.
