<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a favorable display quality by suppressing enlargement of ineffective areas in the neighborhood of data lines even in the case of enlarging transmission display areas to increase brightness of transmission display. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display is provided with a liquid crystal layer 8 which is held between a pair of substrates 2, 7, a transmission display area A for performing display with transmission light, and a reflection display area B for performing display with reflected light. Data lines 5 are arranged for supplying signals to driving elements TFT for driving the liquid crystal layer 8, and the data lines 5 adjacent to the transmission display area B are formed on a plane different from that where the data line 5 adjacent to the above reflection display area A are formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
