PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance potentiometer, of high durability, whose rotational torque is small. SOLUTION: A leaf spring 5 is interposed instead of a conventional return spring between a coupled opponent shaft 4 and a shaft 3 of a potentiometer 1. The leaf spring 5 absorbs a looseness transferred to the shaft 3 from the opponent side, which action has been born by a conventional return spring, for improved precision in angular disposition. Thus, such small rotational torque as equal to or higher than a sliding resistance is sufficient, as no repulsive torque caused by the return spring is required to be considered. Since only a small rotational torque is sufficient, a bearing part of the potentiometer 1 is rare to receive an offset load. So the bearing part does not suffer from wear, resulting in improved durability of the potentiometer 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
