<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy start of a fuel cell under low temperatures while suppressing power loss under room temperatures. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell stack 1 comprises a heating element 62 provided at the end thereof, a circuit and a load connection circuit provided via the heating element 62 and to be connected directly to a load bypassing the heating element 62, respectively, and switches SW1, SW2 provided in the load connection circuit for putting the load connection circuit into an energized condition during normal generation. The temperature of the fuel cell stack 1 is detected by a temperature sensor 11a for detecting the temperature of the fuel cell stack 1. When it is not higher than a set temperature, the switches SW1, SW2 are turned on to put the heating element 62 into the energized condition for warm-up operation, and when it gets to the set temperature, the switches SW1, SW2 are off to suppress the power loss of the heating element 62. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
