PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve steam separation performance of a steam separator or a steam drier in a boiling water reactor. SOLUTION: The steam separator 56 is equipped with separator swirl vanes 41 for generating a swirling flow around a vertical shaft, a cylindrical part 43a arranged so as to cover the outside of the separator swirl vanes and to plumb up the shaft, and a pickoff ring 45 for discharging a liquid film rising along the inner surface of the cylindrical part from an upper part to the outside. The steam drier 19 is equipped with a bending passage 13 advancing upward through a plurality of bending parts and having a plurality of holes 14 on the side wall of the bending parts, and a surrounding pipe 12 extending approximately in the vertical direction, while covering the outside surface of the bending passage, and having a drain hole 111 on the side of the lower part.
