PURPOSE: A method and a device for reproducing AV data in the interactive mode by using a markup document and an information recording medium therefor are provided to control the reproducing procedure of a markup document while reproducing AV data in the interactive mode. CONSTITUTION: A method for reproducing AV data in the interactive mode by using a markup document includes a pre-loading step of reading markup documents with a memory, a loading step of loading the markup document on a screen after analyzation, and an interactive step of carrying out interaction between the markup document on the screen with a user. The operation of a presentation engine in the start, playback, pause and stop states is determined by a user's event generated by a remote controller and script codes on the markup document. Therefore, by changing the user's event and the script code, the operation of the presentation engine is variously changed in the four states.
