The invention relates to an antibody against an epitope contained in the aminoacid sequence encoded by the variant exon v6 of the CD44 gene, to a hybridoma cell line, to an antibody derivative which may be obtained by chemical or enzymatic modification of said antibody, to a recombinant antibody with the idiotype of this antibody, to a pharmaceutical composition which comprises as an active ingredient the antibody or the antibody derivative, and to the utilization of an antibody or an antibody molecule in procedures for diagnosing in vivo or outside the human or animal body.
