The gear changing strategy provides preselection of a target gear for the inactive parallel drive train of the dual-clutch gearbox, with the revs of the input shaft of the inactive parallel drive train increased during the gear pre-selection, by closing the clutch of the inactive parallel drive train during the neutral phase. An Independent claim for a dual-clutch gearbox for an automobile is also included.
