PURPOSE: An ignition plug is provided to prevent the electrode of the ignition plug from being molten by combustion gas of high temperature and high pressure, while achieving improved reliability of ignition plug. CONSTITUTION: An ignition plug protection device comprises a nipple(81) arranged in a combustion chamber, which has a through hole(82) penetrating through the side of the nipple; an ignition plug(83) accommodated in the nipple, which has a front end with an electrode and generates a spark for burning the fuel feeding to the combustion chamber; and a fuel film formation unit for forming a fuel film around the electrode of the ignition plug in such a manner that the electrode is protected from the combustion gas. The nipple has a groove(82a) for storage of the fuel feeding to the through hole of the nipple. The fuel film formation unit includes a fuel branch pipe(86), a control valve(87) and a fuel injection pipe(88).
