PURPOSE: A variable-diameter exhaust system is provided to achieve improved exhaust performance by automatically varying the diameter of the exhaust gas passage in accordance with the flow of the exhaust gas emitted from an engine. CONSTITUTION: A variable-diameter exhaust system comprises a housing(10) having an exhaust port(11) formed at one side of the housing; a pipe(20) penetrating through the other side of the housing; the first member(31) and the second member(32) arranged in the pipe and which have semi-circular cross sections; and the first spring(41) and the second spring(42) for permitting the first and second members to tightly contact with each other so as to form a pipe. The first and second members have the first and second flaps(51,52) expanded outward from the front ends of the first and second members, respectively.
