PURPOSE: A paper pickup device is provided to block or reduce the transmission of vibration via a coil spring to a printer main body by the friction noise generated in the procedure of paper pickup and transmission, thereby reducing the noise. CONSTITUTION: A paper pickup device includes a stacking plate(210), a pickup roller(240), a compression coil spring(230) and a blocking element. The stacking element is coupled to a hinge(215) of a cassette(200) and provided with a friction plate(220) formed of cork. The pickup roller is mounted on the friction plate for picking up a paper. The compression coil spring is mounted between the stacking plate and the cassette to apply elasticity to a bottom surface of the stacking plate in the pickup roller direction. The compression coil spring is elastically deformed by the weight of papers stacked on the stacking plate and rotates the stacking plate with respect to the center of rotation, thereby applying a predetermined elastic pressure to the papers and the pickup roller. The blocking element is a buffering tube(250) inserted in the spiral of the compression coil spring to make a lower end of the stacking plate contact the compression coil spring. The buffering tube blocks or mitigates the vibration of the stacking plate.
