The fastening device for a sealing mounting of a flat component (10) comprises a mounting frame (30) in U-form engagement with a support frame (20). A snap-on device (50) is in locking engagement with the mounting frame and an external sealing device (40). The flat component and optionally the support frame are held between the mounting frame and sealing device, and the snap-on device locks onto the mounting frame and sealing device on the outside. An Independent claim is included for a use for the fastening device which is to mount a glass, mirror, metal sheet or working top in generally flat form.
