Hydrotalcite production from divalent and also trivalent metal compounds with at least one in non-solution form involves (a) intensively mixing the non-solution component shortly before or during mixing or (b) intensively mixing the component mixture, the intensive mixing being continued to average particle size (D50) 0.1-5mu and being followed (optionally after ageing or hydrothermal treatment) by separating, drying and optionally calcining.
