A drug for preventing and/or treating vascular diseases such as angiostenosi s and/or reocculusion following percutaneous coronary angioplasty with the use of an intravascular stent, containing as the active ingredient a substance which is selected from a group consisting of retinoids and substances controlling retionids~ functions such as 4-[(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,5,8,8- tetramethyl-2-naphthalenyl)carbamoyl]benzoic acid or 4-[[[3,5- bis(trimethylsilyl)phenyl]carbonyl]amino]benozic acid, substantially has no effect of inhibiting the growth of vascular endothelial cells but substantially shows an effect of inhibiting the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells.
