The headrest for the seat of a motor vehicle has a yoke (10) which is pivotable from a position above or behind the back cushion of the seat into a support position in front of the forehead of the occupant of the seat, and is equipped with a padding at least on the inner side. The yoke is pivotably fitted on a mounting (12) installed on the back of the seat. The yoke has an approximate C-shape, and may be manufactured from a transparent material at least in sections.
