PURPOSE: A duct type air conditioner is provided to filter foreign matters contained in polluted air circulating in a hermetic space. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner includes a cabinet(56) having an inlet(52) connected with a suction duct, and an outlet(54) connected with a discharge duct, formed to face each other; a blower(58) installed on an inside of the outlet of the cabinet to introduce indoor air; a heat exchanger installed on an inside of the inlet to allow introduced air to exchange heat; and a dust collecting unit(60) installed on an outside of the inlet of the cabinet to purify introduced air. The dust collecting unit comprises a dust collector installed on the inlet of the cabinet to electrically filter foreign matters from polluted air; a dust collector holder fixing the dust collector to the inlet; and a safety unit cutting off power supplied to the dust collector during cleaning of the dust collector to prevent safety accident. The dust collector electrifies foreign matters contained in introduced air to collect so as to purify air.
